Boozman Introduces Legislation Honoring U.S. WWII Submarine Veterans U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) leads congressional efforts to recognize U.S. World War II Submarine Veterans and the important roles they played in the Allied victory. The United States Submarine Force suffered the highest percentage of losses of any branch of the Armed Services during WWII. 52 American submarines were lost, 49 in the Pacific and approximately 3,500 submariners gave their life to protect the liberties and freedoms of the United States. To honor the sacrifices of these brave Americans, Boozman and original co-sponsor Joe Sestak (D-PA) a retired U.S. Navy Three Star Admiral, introduced legislation that affirms the House of Representative’s commitment to promoting and sustaining the spirit of unity shared by members of the U.S. Submarine Force, pays tribute to the seven submariners awarded the Medal of Honor and honors the service of Submarine Force Veterans and their sacrifices. “This bill brings overdue recognition to our World War II submarine veterans. These brave men served our country in an undersea fighting force and victory may not have been possible in the Pacific without their service, courage and sacrifice,” Boozman said. Boozman will also attend the decommissioning of the Arkansas Base of Submarine Veterans of WWII hosted by the USS Snook Base of the United States Submarine Veterans in Rogers on October 10 at the Clarion Hotel in Bentonville.
