Congressman Boozman’s office has received hundreds of calls and emails from constituents concerned with the Administration’s proposed $700 billion bailout plan. While no legislation has been formally introduced in the House of Representatives the Congressman agrees Washington needs to restore confidence in the financial sector, which includes overseeing the practices of lending institutions.
“We cannot make hasty decisions at this critical time and the American taxpayer must be our number one priority,” Boozman said.
Congressman Boozman says the legislation needs to focus on how to help taxpayers rather than subsidizing salaries to executives of companies who face financial trouble.
“Bad business practices cannot be rewarded,” Boozman said.

Boozman Honors Fayetteville’s First Christian Church on House Floor

Members of First Christian Church will celebrate the church’s 160th Anniversary on Sunday with a service, photo and groundbreaking. On the eve of this historic event, Congressman Boozman honored the service and the commitment of the church in the following statement given on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives:
Madam Speaker, I rise to recognize and commend Fayetteville’s First Christian Church on its 160th Anniversary.
This great country was founded on religious principles and the ideals of our founders can be seen in the works and service that is carried out every day by the church.
First Christian welcomes people from all walks of life with open arms and its commitment to not only teaching, but showing the love of God is something we can all be proud of.
I honor First Christian Church and its members for the dedication and commitment to their faith and their strength in service to the kingdom of God. The church is truly doing the work of the Lord and reaching out to help people in need. It is an integral part of the community and its members have played an important role in shaping Northwest Arkansas.
I’m grateful for the efforts of all church members who serve as stewards of Jesus Christ. It is through their commitment to God that the legacy of the First Christian Church lives on.
Boozman Comments on Center for Immigration Studies Report
by Boozman Press Office

A drop in the number of illegal immigrants is a reflection on our stricter laws and enforcement that is going on around the country, but we must do more to hold illegal immigrants and employers who hire them accountable for breaking our laws.
Despite the immigration raids across the country, it’s hard to believe that enforcement alone brought about an 11 percent decrease.
The weak economy may be a contributing factor to the change in numbers of illegal immigrants. It’s harder to find vacancies in the jobs generally held by illegal immigrants, so coming to this country isn’t as enticing.
We need to take further action to make sure our laws are being enforced and to fix the system that allows illegal immigrants to come to this country.
“There haven’t been gains, Wolf,” the speaker replied. “The gains have not produced the desired effect, which is the reconciliation of Iraq. This is a failure. This is a failure.
Those were the words from Speaker Nancy Pelosi while speaking to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Sunday. While we come to expect such dismal prognostications from her - especially after going 0-60 on trying to change the policy in Iraq, and the public dissing of her masters at MoveOn after the Petraeus ad, her statement stands in stark contrast to another statement released over the weekend:
“There were almost 600 fighters in our sector before the tribes changed course 360 degrees . . . Many of our fighters quit and some of them joined the deserters . . . As a result of that the number of fighters dropped down to 20 or less.”
The author laments a reduction in force, due to an increase in pressure from the enemy.
It was written by a man named Abu-Tariq. Mr. Tariq just happens to be a member of al-Qaeda.
The limp corn-based straw and the recycled coffee cup: a legacy of the “New Direction” from Speaker Pelosi.
Notice how you need two cups to not burn your hand, and how the straw doesn’t hold up to the heat.
The response from the powers-that-be:
“We have had a few people observe that [straw] phenomenon and we had to tell them, ‘Sip your coffee like a normal human being,’” Ventura said. “We’re trying to save the planet here.”
From the Washington Timescomes an article which predicts an impotent 2nd session of the 110th Congress. Included in the dire analysis is the liberal Brookings Institution:
“The stars are in configuration for this to be the least productive [legislative session] during an eighth year of a [presidential] administration,” said Stephen Hess of the Brookings Institution, a liberal Washington think tank.
