Democrats Pull Pro-Gun Vote

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

From The Politico, to avoid the risk of pro-gun Democrats breaking ranks, House Democrat leaders pulled the DC Voting Rights bill from the floor.

The move is a clear signal that Democrats have lost control of the House floor on the voting rights issue after minority Republicans presented the Democratic majority with a politically unpalatable motion that their conservative members would be forced to support for fear of angering the gun rights community.

Recently, the District argued that the 2nd Amendment does not apply to them in a case to overturn the gun ban in Washington.

The District wants a vote, like a state, but argued the Constitution does not apply to them.

By the way, the Courts overturned the gun-ban. It is still in effect, pending appeal.
