Americans know how to spend their hard-earned money better than Washington. Unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi is open to the idea of imposing a value added tax or national retail tax as reported in The Hill.This idea has been circulating since this summer as a way to raise additional revenue. As a result I have joined the Anti-VAT Caucus in opposition to this idea. It is not a good idea to raise taxes on Americans especially during this economic climate and I will not support this or any other taxes that create more burdens for Americans.
