Boozman shows support for Israel
by Boozman Press Office
January 12th, 2009

U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) Friday reaffirmed support for Israel, voting for H. Res. 34, Recognizing Israel’s right to defend itself against attacks from Gaza, reaffirming the United States’ strong support for Israel and supporting the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

“I strongly support Israel and its right to defend itself against Hamas.  The decision by Hamas to break the ceasefire and attack Israel on December 19 left Israel no choice but to defend itself and its citizens.  The U.S. is a central participant in the effort to find a resolution for this conflict; however, these efforts are complicated given the reason for this recent escalation and the long history of Hamas and its terrorist aggression.  My thoughts and prayers are with the victims on both sides of this struggle.  As a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I will continue to work with my colleagues to find an answer that will achieve peace and stability in the region.”

The resolution passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 390 to 5.
