Meth Hurts More Than Users

The Associated Press reports that methamphetamine abuse has lead to an increase in child protection cases across the country. They quote a survey released in July by the National Association of Counties that said 40 percent of child welfare officials in 13 states reported increased out-of-home placements caused by meth in the past year. This is tragic, but unfortunately not surprising. As meth abuse in our communities have shown us, this drug destroys everything it touches. As abusers grow violent and paranoid, family members are often caught in the middle. Meth abuse fuels domestic abuse and child neglect. This is one more reason we need a comprehensive national strategy to deal this problem. You can read more here.
